Eklin Medical Systems Announces Acquisition of Elinc
Corporation
Recognized Veterinary Innovators Combine;
World-leader in Veterinary PACS and Digital Radiography Acquires
Fast-growing Practice Information Management Leader
Santa Clara, Calif. - September 28, 2005 --
Eklin Medical Systems, the leader in veterinary informatics and digital
radiography, has acquired Plano, Texas-based Elinc Corporation, an
innovative, fast growth provider of veterinary practice information
management system (PIMS) software. The combined companies will offer
Elinc's VIA™ Veterinary Practice Information Management System fully
integrated into Eklin's Digital Practice™ architecture, combining
Eklin’s RapidStore™ clinical PACS (picture archiving and communications
system) platform, EklinRemote™ web-based informatics system, and
RapidStudy™ high-performance Equine and Small Animal Digital Radiography
product and service lines. The companies previously announced a
strategic collaboration agreement approximately one year ago.
“As we progressed further into our joint development project, it became
clear that for us to deliver the best value to our customers, both
systems needed to be tightly integrated while still adhering to an
open-standards architecture,” stated Gary R. Cantu, president and CEO of
Eklin. “We have always felt that Elinc has been developing the most
advanced system in the market, built on a very robust and scalable
platform. This acquisition will allow us to leverage the strengths of
our combined development resources to deliver the first truly integrated
practice operating platform, combining office operations, lab and
diagnostic imaging data, as well as remote reporting and consultation."
Elinc's Veterinary Practice Information Management System allows
veterinarians to stay in control of their practice's complete
information needs. By effectively combining an easy-to-use interface
with the most powerful functionality in the industry, VIA provides the
information veterinarians need to improve patient outcomes and operating
efficiencies. Built on a powerful three-tier architecture and Microsoft
SQL Server database engine, VIA addresses the needs of both small and
large animal practices.
“The combined entity will allow Elinc access to a deeper and broader set
of technical and support resources, enabling us to focus on product
development and customer interaction,” said Steve Strittmatter,
president and CEO of Elinc Corporation. “As we laid out our respective
product roadmaps we found we shared a common vision and business values.
Deciding to integrate the two companies became easy.”
In addition to PACS, Eklin also provides the RapidStudy DR system, the
industry's leading digital radiography imaging platform. Just as digital
cameras have made photography more efficient by eliminating film, the
Eklin RapidStudy DR system provides the veterinarian with a radiographic
image that can be viewed immediately on a high-resolution monitor
without need for film developing. The Eklin DR system also offers
sophisticated image processing tools, giving the veterinarian much
greater depth of information that can be enlarged or manipulated for far
better detail. Eklin offers either a 9”x11” sensor panel or the
industry’s only full-size 14”x17” sensor panel. Images can be stored and
archived for future evaluation using the Eklin PACS which is based on
DICOM standards used by hospitals and clinics around the world.
“With Eklin’s and Elinc’s resources combined within one organization, we
can deliver unprecedented tools for controlling critical clinical,
financial and back-office information,” said Cantu. “This end-to-end
integrated solution will provide the industry gold standard, offering
greater workflow efficiencies and profit growth for progressive
veterinary practices.”
